Upcoming Games I’m Excited For!

RIP to my wallet!

As always, there’s so many new games in the works and I feel like I have to choose which ones I’m going to spend my money on wisely. There are a few that are in the works that I have my eye on in particular; lets take a look at some of them here!

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

When I was a kid, I wasn’t big into Mario Kart. I played the DS one a bit, but nothing past that. However, my brother and I were big fans of Sonic Riders on the PS2. That game was one of the first video games I ever played, and I still pick it up to this day. I really enjoy it!

There were a couple more games in the Sonic Riders series, but the franchise kinda died when Sonic Free Riders for the Kinect was a massive failure. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, coming out in September this year, is not a direct continuation of the Sonic Riders franchise but it’s probably as close as we’re gonna get, which means I am desperate to play it. They’re putting the iconic Extreme Gear in the game, the Sonic Riders Babylon Rogues are there, so it’s close enough in my eyes. Also, what other racing game is gonna let me play as Hatsune Miku?!

Haunted Chocolatier

Source: ConcernedApe

Both me and my friend are fans of ConcernedApe’s smash hit Stardew Valley, even if it stresses me out. She has been giving me updates when she sees them about ConcernedApe’s next big project Haunted Chocolatier, which also has Stardew’s iconic pixel art style and you play as a chocolatier living in a haunted castle. Hence the name. Makes sense!

The game has no set release date, but is said to be more of an action RPG rather than a farming game which is right up my street. You are still going to get interactions with town NPCs and the ability to decorate your home too, which are elements I love in Stardew Valley. I can’t wait to meet all the new characters and become best friends with a ghost living in my castle!

TOUCHSTARVED

I’ve played over 200 otome titles, so I always have my eyes peeled for a new otome or dating sim game that seems particularly interesting. Interesting characters, unique gameplay or distinct artwork are all things that will draw me towards a new title.

TOUCHSTARVED is an upcoming gothic horror romance game from indie studio RedSpring, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. The game allows you to fully create your own MC and choose from 3 distinct backstories, something I am particularly excited about as a lover of character creation. The cast of love interests is diverse and their routes are interconnected, allowing multiple replays to get the full picture. Even if I’m not the best with horror games, I’m definitely eager to give this game a try when it releases!

Dragon Quest 1&2 HD-2D Remake

Source: Square Enix

It’s no secret that I’m a big Dragon Quest fan, but the earlier titles were pretty inaccessible unless I wanted to play them on my phone or pay stupid amounts of money for a second hand DS remake (unless we’re talking about DQIX, which has no ports or remakes at all. ) Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake came out last year to rave reviews, and I’ve stayed my hand on picking it up until the trilogy is completed so I can play them all back-to-back (still starting with III, of course!)

Dragon Quest 1&2 HD-2D Remake looks as gorgeous as III did, with beautifully crafted artwork to give it a retro feel while still looking new. Of course, this remake also contains some quality of life and story updates, which Square Enix have promised makes the game the best versions of the stories yet. I’ll have to do a deep dive so I can write a comparison article someday! At least I don’t have long to wait now, as the game is releasing in October this year.

I’m sure there are plenty more games that will be announced which will make me put my money (and memory space on my consoles) aside! There will be plenty more articles like this one in the future.
