My Goals for 2026

Happy new year! I want to catch up with you and discuss what my plans are for my blog (and myself!) in 2026.

Happy new year! I hope you all had a restful break with your loved ones, and that you got time to play some games!

2026 will be marking one year since I started consistently posting on this blog, as well as four years since its creation during my journalism course at uni. I can’t wait to see what this year brings, and I hope to be able to continue to grow this blog into something truly special.

In 2026, I want to expand my taste in games and try some from genres I’m less familiar with; that way, I can share even more fun gaming stories with you all! As an autistic person, I have a tendency to stick strongly with my favourite genres and even favourite games (I’m still not clear of my non-stop Baldur’s Gate 3 phase yet!) but I want to expand my knowledge and experience in games so I can write a wider variety of articles. I may be bad at these games at first, but it’s all a learning experience!

I promise I will play something other than BG3 to write about soon! Source: Larian Studios

I also want to start posting more regularly on TikTok; I was posting semi-regularly last year, but that fizzled out as I got behind on writing articles. I’m only able to write for SweetieGames on two days a week, so time is very limited! I think I became very shy over potentially sharing my face online, as TikTok prefers faces in its content, so I ended up overthinking it. I may end up posting my face on there or on here. I could also post some non-gaming related posts on there as I’m also very into alternative fashion!

I want to write more interview stories on SweetieGames, and I’m hoping to start drafting ideas and reaching out to potential interviewees very soon. I love writing interview articles; hearing other people’s stories and experiences in the gaming world is so fun and I love sharing that with others!

I am also hoping to pitch some of my work to third parties and grow my career as a freelancer! My original plan was to use SweetieGames like a portfolio, but now I would love for it to work in tandem with publishing my writing on third party websites. I’ve had my work published a couple of times and adored the feeling of seeing my name and my work on a homepage, and I really hope I can get some more regular gigs going.

While doing this, I do want to make sure I check in with myself and not push myself past my mental limits. There were times last year where I was so desperate to get articles out, despite feeling unwell physically or mentally, and I just ended up feeling so much worse. It’s tough out there for neurodivergent folks; as a late diagnosed person, I often hold myself to a neurotypical standard and beat myself up if I can’t meet it. Publishing articles here, elsewhere or posting to TikTok is an achievement, and a step closer to where I want to be. Everything takes time!

Watch this space! If you are here from now, thank you so much. I appreciate everyone who comes to check out what I have to offer! I hope 2026 is kind to all of you.

~ Lizzie ❤
