As a long time otome fan, I want to take a look at some of the otome games that I have yet to try or have not come out yet that I want to check out. I feel like I’m being spoiled for choice!
Illusion of Itehari (Utakata no Uchronia)

I feel like it’s only a matter of time before I get spoilers for this one, so I’m going to have to start it soon! After being localised last year, I’ve seen non stop love on my timeline for Uchronia. With art by RiRi, who became well known in the otome world for her gorgeous artwork in Piofiore, I can’t wait to see what this game is all about. Uchronia follows a noblewoman, living in a floating utopia who longs to see what lies beyond. I love a plot heavy otome, and I feel like Uchronia is really going to scratch that itch!
7’Scarlet

7’Scarlet has been around for a while, releasing in the west in 2018, and I’ve been meaning to get around to it for a while. I like that the artwork has that charming, older otome look to it, reminiscent of the mobile otome games that made me fall in love with the genre in the first place. Solving mysteries is one of my favourite things to do in a game, and 7’Scarlet has the player try and uncover the mystery of the protagonist’s missing brother alongside a group known as the Okunezato Supernatural Club. I can’t wait to see how the plot of 7’Scarlet unfolds. I may be late to the party, but better late than never!
9 R.I.P. Sequel

The 9 R.I.P. fandisk, masterfully named 9 R.I.P. Sequel, has been out in Japan for a little while and I’m itching to get my hands on it. I’m not usually the biggest lover of fandisks; I feel like there needs to be a reason for the plot of an otome to continue and they’re often wrapped up nicely as is, but I am desperate to see the loveable cast of 9 R.I.P. again. I really enjoyed playing the original game last year; I’ve played plenty of otome, so it takes a lot for there to be truly unique characters I haven’t seen before, but 9 R.I.P. somehow managed it. I need to see Seiya and Yukimaro once again! Please bring the sequel over here!
Crazy Cha!n

Words cannot describe how excited I am for Crazy Chain (stylised as Crazy Cha!n). The combination of gorgeous character designs and personalities that are right up my street and intriguing plot written by the same writer as Code: Realize and Cafe Enchante has made me the most excited I have been for an otome title in a while. I really hope it lives up to the hype; it’s coming out on June 4th in Japan, and I can only hope it’s being brought over here soon afterwards!
I’m sure there will be plenty of otome for me to get stuck into this year, but these are a handful of the games I’m most excited for. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for otome fans.
