My name is Lizzie (she/her) and I’ve been passionate about gaming ever since my parents gifted me and my brother a PlayStation 2 for Christmas back in 2006. I completed my degree in Journalism and Creative Writing in 2022, with the goal to continue writing about video games and the gaming community.

This blog was initially set up during my time in university, where it was unfairly marked in a WordPress module because I targeted my gaming blog towards women, and video games are “male dominated”. This made me want to write on this blog even more; in this day and age, it’s absurd to me that people still assume that women don’t play games, or are “fake” gamers! Just because someone has a pink setup or enjoys cosy gaming does not mean they are not a fan of video games. This is where SweetieGames got its name; you can be a sweetie but still enjoy everything from little known indie titles to the biggest AAA titles, from farming games to first person shooters.

What will you find here?

• Features, opinion pieces, reviews and interviews with  streamers, gamers and people working in the video game industry. I love to write about visual novels (VN) and JRPGs, but I’ll be writing about all sorts of things in the video game community!
• Get-to-know me articles and favourites lists, so you can find out about the girl behind this website.
• A fun, safe space for anybody to enjoy reading about and discussing video games. All articles are written from my perspective as a neurodivergent woman in the gaming community, and I know how it feels to be left out of discussions. You are welcome here! ❤
