I can’t believe it’s been one month since I started this format! There’s been a couple of weeks off writing in July as I’ve been so busy. I’m currently learning to drive and my test is coming up, so I have less time (and money) for gaming!

But this doesn’t mean that I haven’t been playing anything! Even though I’ve been focussing on other things, there are still some games that I have sunk my teeth into in my spare time that I can talk about in this month’s post.

The main game I’ve been playing this month is Persona 4 Golden, in anticipation for the remake coming out in February next year, Persona 4 Revival. I’ve heard many people say it was their favourite game in the Persona franchise and I’ve been meaning to check it out for a while, and I’m so glad I did! I’ve been really enjoying it so far; the characters are so charming. I have actually been finding it surprisingly tough and I’ve had way more game overs than I had when I played Persona 3 Portable! I’ve tried to play it totally blind but now I have had to consult some guides for the best personas and items to use in bigger battles as I was getting really stuck. Unfortunately, as the game has been out for so long, I have been spoiled in advance of some major plot twists, but that doesn’t seem to be affecting my enjoyment of the game. As an autistic person, I really enjoy the calendar structure and planning my time between exploration and social links that Persona does so well, and Persona 4 Golden is no exception to this. I’m hoping to get it finished this month so I can write a review and get some more games in my backlog ticked off!

Recently, a friend and I went back to a game I haven’t played since 2021; Monster Prom, a super fun indie game from Beautiful Glitch. While we didn’t take feral demon Damien to prom, I did remember how fun this game is with its hilarious dialogue and whacky character scenarios. I might come back to this game again soon just to prove to myself that I do have what it takes to get a good ending. I’ve been playing otomes for too many years to not get a good ending!

When I want to wind down, I’ve still been logging in daily to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, just as I was last month. There’s something very comforting about the Animal Crossing games as someone who grew up with them! When things get hectic, it’s been really nice to log in, enjoy the August fireworks show and redesign my house a little. My work in progress areas of my island are now coming along nicely! I wonder when my Animal Crossing kick will end?

I’m glad I’m still working my way through my backlog of games! I’m hoping this format will continue to hold me accountable so I won’t purely slip in to games I’ve played multiple times. I can already feel inspiration coming for future articles here!
